TOOLSTATION League premier division Wellington are looking to arrange two more pre-season friendlies - both away.

Wellington cannot play on their own pitch at the Playing Field because it is being used by the local cricket club.

Wellington boss Clive Jones, who starts his fourth season in charge, has arranged warm-up games against Tiverton Town (July 16) and Exwick (July 24).

However, another match against Witheridge for July 26 has been cancelled.

“I would like at least two more warm-up games,” said Jones, “presumably within about 40 miles of us.”

Jones has been talking to possible new players, some of whom have agreed to join Wellington’s pre-season training sessions.

Wellington’s players report back for pre-season training on Tuesday, July 2.

“That’s when the work for the players really begins,” added Jones. “They will have to work harder in training.

“I have to stay positive. I want an improvement next season and we will improve. We had too many weekends when we were bad last season.”
