WELLINGTON side Moortown St Malachy’s are the outright leaders of the second division in the Somerset Sunday Football League.

They have a three-point lead at the top after beating Northwalls United 6-2 away - their third win in as many games.

There are four teams on six points behind them - Nether Stowey Sunday, AFC Dunster, Butlins and Cotford Rovers.

Ben Evett put Moortown ahead with a rocket of a shot in the 15th minute before setting up a second for Sean Conway in the 25th minute.

Evett slammed his second of the match in the 30th minute with another tremendous shot and completed his hat-trick only four minutes later for a 4-0 lead.

Northwalls, however, pulled a goal back for the home side in the 37th minute.

Moortown made it 5-1 in the 52nd minute when Alfie Hill pounced to score after good play by Evett and Dan Conway.

Dan Conway struck Moortown’s sixth, tucking the ball away in the corner after a through ball by the outstanding Evett.

Northwalls managed to reduce the arrears in the 82nd minute with a sliced shot which hit a post before going in.

Meanwhile, the Wellington side will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season when they play at home to AFC Dunster on Sunday, September 20 (kick-off 10.30 a.m.). The West Somerset side have won both their opening games.
