THERE was a splendid turnout for Wellington Wanderers Under 13s’ end of season presentation. More than 100 attended this fabulous evening of celebration at Wellington Football Club.

Wanderers enjoyed a fantastic season, finishing runners up in Division Three of the Taunton & District Youth League and gaining promotion, winning 12, drawing three with only one defeat - on the last game of the season.

Wanderers also made it to the quarterfinals in the league cup , being knocked out by the Hornets who went onto win it .

Wanderers have also had a busy summer with a friendly international with a Newport team and tournaments every weekend throughout June and into July. Wanderers enjoyed success in these tournaments, winning the Staplegrove Cup and the Wellington School Championship and reaching three other semi-finals.

Highlight of the season was their trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers where the boys represented the Wellington badge with real pride and experienced some unforgettable memories.

A club spokesperson said: “It’s been such a brilliant season with highs and lows but throughout it all the boys have a team spirit I’ve never seen before; teammates on the pitch and friends off. We have already started making plans for next season,

“Wolverhampton Wanderers have invited us back to play again; we are looking into the Stamford Bridge Chelsea Tournament and playing in the Bournemouth 7s Beach Tournament.

“We will be holding our annual race night before Christmas, so please all come along , date to be confirmed .

“We would like to thank everyone who has helped out over the season, too many to mention, but it really is appreciated and we would like to thank the bar staff.”
