WE HAD our thirteenth winner of the season at Newton Abbot with Ocean Heights winning under Jack Tudor. It was his first try at 2m5f and he really seemed to enjoy the step up in trip, seeing out the extra distance well and galloping strongly to the line.

We had just three other runners in the last week. Karnaval Point was a little disappointing in his chase at Worcester but I am not sure he enjoyed making the running.

Savanna Storm showed more promise on his second start over hurdles, jumping more fluently and galloping to the line. Affection was our only other runner on the flat at Lingfield on Saturday. She wasn’t beaten very far into sixth and with some further help front the handicapper she can be more competitive.

Tuesday is busy for the team with four runners at Uttoxeter, Harry, October Hill, Grand Clermont and Martin’s Denuo. Rian Corcoran rides all of them.

Later this week we have entries at Newton Abbot on Friday and then Plumpton on Sunday where racing returns to the track after it’s summer break. It has been changed to an all hurdles card (and a bumper) so ground staff can concentrate on watering just the one track.

Horses in Training - Please find below details of more of the horses who will be running for Pond House this season: Kingston Queen: Winner of two hurdle races last season she has summered well again so plenty to look forward to. She shows great heart and determination in her races, and she remains a very exciting prospect.

King Turgeon: Restricted to just three runs last season, nothing seemed to work right with the weather, timings and the ground. With the changes to the race programming, he won’t be able to return to Aintree in October for the National fences but we will hope for a drier winter so that he might be able to go for the race on its new date in December.

Lady Blake: A thoroughly likeable mare who has a fantastic win to run career ratio. Life will be tougher again with her rating 140 but has a great attitude, is very tough and consistent and is still only seven years of age.

Lady Kluck: A recent addition to our team, she is an Irish point to point winner and a winner of a bumper at Sedgefield. She has had two starts over hurdles and been placed on one of those occasions. Her past form suggest she will go on any ground and is likely to be seen at her best in 2m4f plus races.

Lion In Zion: A new recruit from France, he is a lovely three-year- old who has just had the two starts over hurdles, improving from his first start to finish third at Fontainebleau in March. He has a striking similarity to Ramses De Teillee and is a lovely juvenile hurdling prospect for the season ahead.

Un-named Ex Massannie: This filly is out of the mare Massannie who we used to train at Pond House, she was a four-time winner who ran to a good level and was rated 132 at best. She is another for junior bumpers and hurdle races this season.
