WELLINGTON bounced back to form with a 31-17 away victory over Newton Abbot in Regional Two South West yesterday (Sat).

Star of the show was scrum half Corey Jenkinson, son of former captain Tim, who snapped up a hat-trick of tries.

Toby Redwood and Chris Batts also scored tries with Alex Davey kicking three conversions for Wellington who led 19-10 at half time and 31-10 before the Devon side scored a late try.

"I thought our set pieces worked well and we defended brilliantly for a 15 minutes spell in the first half," said Wellington's head coach Graham Dawe.

"We fielded a young side and we were slightly apprehensive before the start."

Meanwhile, Wellington 2nd XV are up to third in Counties Three Somerset South following a 28-15 home victory over Cheddar Valley.
