WELLINGTON lst XV were forced to pull out of their away game against Ivybridge in Regional Two South West on Saturday, March 28, because they could not field a front row.

Secretary Ashley Colman said: “We’ve so many injuries, it’s unbelievable. We were not going to send down a side with so many youngsters , it would not be fair. It’s disappointing, but it is what it is.”

Wellington lost a number of senior players last summer and they have not been replaced. It has meant they have fielded a young and inexperienced first team which has not won a match this season.

They are 27 points adrift at the bottom of the table and have known they would be relegated some weeks ago.

They have one more league game to play - at home to Okehampton on Saturday, April 11.

Wellington 2nd XV, who have also struggled this season, are no longer playing in Counties Three Somerset South.
