FIREFIGHTERS from Wiveliscombe put out a large grass fire on the Quantock Hills, the third across West Somerset in a week as high temperatures were experienced.
The Wiveliscombe crews were sent to Wreford, near Crowcombe, where about seven acres of grassland were found to be well alight.
The incident commander requested additional resources, and support was mobilised from the Williton and Nether Stowey stations to assist with the firefighting operation.

The crews worked to bring the fire under control using hose reel jets, beaters, and a specialist 4x4 unit equipped for off-road operations.
The fire was successfully contained and extinguished in about two-and-a-quarter hours,
A Wellington fire crew then followed up with standby duties.
Following their return to station, the Wiveliscombe crews were immediately mobilised to provide standby cover for Wellington, where firefighters had been sent to a separate incident in which a combine harvester and a field caught alight in Langford Budville.
