WELLINGTON Bowling Club's A, B and C teams have been improving as the season has progressed - and they have proved their worth by completing a hat-trick of wins in inter-club matches.

Peter Barlow, Nick Channon and Phil Ellis' A team had a battle on against a strong Eastover side. It was close all the way through and with one to play, Eastover led 14 – 13. Phil's team took a vital one in the last to even the score at 14 – 14.

Julian Street, Paul Kelly and Tony Gibson were down early on but they came back to win in style 28 – 15.

On the last rink, Daren Sparks, Jay Merrell and Mike Groves were level on 16 – 16 with one end to play but they picked up the all important single shot in the last to pinch it 17 – 16.

The final score was a good away win to Wellington by 59 shots to 45.

Barry Cutler, Henry Richbell and Chrissie Willcocks' B team were fighting an away battle against North Petherton but despite strong opposition the Wellington side won it 18 – 11.

Andy Dart, Roger Murphy and Bill Warnett's side were on top form and won their match with shots to spare, 29 -10.

On the last rink Mark Bond, Peter White and David Beaudet were also doing well, coming home with a strong victory, 33 – 12.

The final score was a good victory to Wellington by 80 shots to 33 and three wins out of three.

In the C team's match against Burnham-on-Sea, Alan May's side won easily 27 – 8, Lynda Manning's team lost by a few shots, 11 – 20 but Andrew Baird's trio won theirs 14 – 8 to give Wellington an overall victory by 52 shots to 36.
