AFTER their double-winning weekend, Wellington will be looking to step up the pressure at the top of the Somerset Division in the West of England Premier League when they play away to North Perrott on Saturday, July 25.

Wellington, in third spot, hammered Taunton in a league match at home last Saturday before going on to beat Swindon on the same ground in the final of the West of England Premier League’s Four Regions T20 Competition for Tier Three sides the following day.

It means Wellington go into their game against bottom side Perrott on the back of two of the most impressive displays of the season.

Wellington are only 24 points behind the leaders Ilminster and only six points behind second-placed Yeovil. With six matches still to play, Wellington are looking good bets for promotion with much depending on their home game against Yeovil the following weekend.

Ilminster are home to Frome this weekend while Yeovil entertain Wembdon.

Fixtures, Somerset Division: Chard v Bridgwater 2nd XI, Ilminster v Frome, North Perrott v Wellington, Taunton v Temple Cloud, Yeovil v Wembdon.

Meanwhile, Wellington 2nd XI have much work to do if they are going to avoid relegation from Division One in the Somerset League.

Wellington, who have been on the wrong end of some high-scoring games recently, are 53 points adrift at the bottom of the table and play at home to fellow strugglers Cranmore on Saturday. It is a game they must win if they are going avoid the drop.

Wellington 3rd XI, who are lying third in Division Seven South, find themselves without a fixture. Their next match is away to Taunton Deane 5th XI on Saturday, August 1. Wellington are 32 points behind second-placed Bishops Hull 2nd XI but have a crucial game in hand.
