WELLINGTON go into their last match of the season at home to Chard on Saturday, August 29, looking to clinch the runners-up spot in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League (12 noon).

Wellington are currently lying second, and have an 11-point lead over Yeovil who are third.

Having won at Wembdon by a convincing five wickets last weekend, Wellington will be fancied to beat Chard who suffered a poor nine-wicket defeat at home to local rivals and new champions Ilminster in their most recent game.

Wellington, who will be chasing their 11th victory of the season, will be hoping experienced all-rounder Luke Desave will be fit after missing the last four matches with a hamstring injury. Desave suffered the injury during a pre-match warm-up against Yeovil.

Meanwhile, Ilminster end their season with a home game against Wembdon while Yeovil are away to Taunton whose form this season has been unpredictable.

Wellington 2nd XI, already relegated from Division One of the Somerset League, also play their last match of the season - away to fifth-placed Wells & Horrington.

Long Sutton, who have long been crowned champions, entertain Cranmore who still have some work to do to avoid relegation.
